Who remembers being a kid around the ages of 6 and 15 ? It is not often that we reflect on our child hood memories but we were there once and we must not forget. A child deserves all the attention in the world and not every child is able to get the attention that they deserve. There are many reasons as to why children lack attention from elders and some reasons are unpreventable but no one said inevitable . Play and Learn Foundation has been organized for the purpose of helping strengthen the growth of children through sports and extra circular, life enduring activities. The mission is to develop the skills that youth have within them already. A classroom cannot always serve for that purpose and Play and Learn can help bridge the gap. Play and Learn consists of dedicated youth that spend weekdays after school and saturday afternoons to learn and share news skills. The youth of Play and Learn are your average kids that live in Accra, Ghana spread out within the urban communities, they all attend elementary school , middle school , or high school within a close radius of University of Ghana. For that purpose they volunteer their time to learn and discuss new ideas with their peers. When they aren't working in groups , teaching , learning, discussing you can catch these kids on the football field . They not only use what they have learned practically but they also display those skills in a physical environment. The kids of Play and Learn bring a new kind of light into knowledge seeking. These amazing youthful souls display positive characteristics that may draw you back to your childhood but also help you understand why programs like Play and Learn are crucial to the well development of youth.
Now as one may be wondering who organizes, who volunteers , and who loves to spend quality time with youth? I will say this much; youth that understand youth are the future.
